Jair Bolsonaro fired the president of the Brazilian state oil company Petrobras

The Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro, determined that General Joaquim Silva e Luna, will cease to be the head of the state oil company Petrobrasheaded by the economist Adriano Pires.

The formal departure of Joaquim Saailva e Luna must occur within 2 weeks when the Ordinary Assembly of the company meets and the new Board of Directors is formed.

Petrobras is a publicly traded state-owned company with shares listed on the New York and São Paulo stock exchanges. In this sense, the Ministry of Mines and Energy reported that the government has defined the names that it will propose to integrate the next Board of Directors.

Within that list of names, General Silva e Luna does not appear, and that of Adriano Pires appears, who, in addition, is proposed to occupy the future presidency of the oil company.

The retired general, Silva e Luna, had assumed less than a year ago at the head of the oil company and last week declared that he was not willing to resign from the position.

Silva e Luna defended the increase in diesel by almost 2% and gasoline by almost 19%due to the rise in the barrel of oil due to the war in Ukraine.
