Israel-Gaza War: Indian Government again gave a statement regarding Israel-Hamas war, said this

Israeli–Hamas War: Amid the Israel-Hamas war, India on Thursday said that it has always advocated direct negotiations for the establishment of a sovereign, independent and viable Palestine state. In his first detailed statement on the Israel-Hamas war, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that adhering to international humanitarian law is a universal obligation and fighting the threat of terrorism is also a global responsibility. He said that India is aware of the universal obligation to follow international humanitarian law.

Reiterating India’s stand on the Palestine issue, he said, “Our policy in this regard has been long-term and consistent. The Government of India has always advocated the resumption of direct negotiations with Israel for the establishment of a sovereign, independent and viable Palestine within secure and recognized borders, as well as peaceful relations with Israel. This stance remains intact.

Government’s focus on bringing back Indians stranded in Israel

He also said that India’s focus is on bringing back those Indians from Israel who want to return in view of the current situation. Let us tell you that this statement from the Indian government comes after earlier statements, in which clear support was offered for Israel and no mention was made of Palestine.

Both these statements from the Indian Government appear to be more balanced. Because in May 2021, when about 300 people were killed in a barrage of rockets by Hamas and subsequent Israeli air strikes, India had criticized both sides.
