India’s men’s hockey team announced for Australia tour, Harmanpreet Singh will take charge

Veteran drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh will captain India’s 23-member men’s hockey team for the upcoming tour of Australia. Amit Rohidas has been made the vice-captain. Hockey India announced the team on Tuesday. The Indian team will play five matches on the tour starting in Adelaide from November 26, which are important for the preparation of next year’s World Cup. The FIH World Cup will be played in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13 to 29. “The upcoming tour of Australia is a golden opportunity to test ourselves against one of the favorites for the FIH Hockey World Cup 2023,” Indian hockey team chief coach Graham Reid said in a release. We have picked youngsters along with experienced players to assess the depth of our team. The forward line will consist of Mandeep Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Abhishek and Sukhjeet Singh while the middle order will be led by Gurjant Singh, Akashdeep Singh, Mohd Raheel Mousin, Rajkumar Pal, Nilakanta Sharma, Shamsher Singh, Hardik Singh, Manpreet Singh and Sumit. The defense will be handled by Varun Kumar, Jarmanpreet Singh, Surender Kumar, Harmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Jugraj Singh, Mandeep Mor and Neelam Sanjeep Cess.
