Indian student murdered in Toronto

New York, April 9 (agency) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has condoled the killing of a 21-year-old Indian student in Toronto. The student had died after being injured in the firing. The Toronto Police Service was informed of a shooting at a local suburb station on April 7. Karthik Vasudev was shot at at the entrance of the station. After giving first aid on the spot, Vasudev was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Jaishankar tweeted, ‘Extremely saddened by this incident. Condolences to the family. Toronto police said investigators were looking for witnesses who were in the area at the time of the incident, as well as camera footage from the area. The Consulate General of India in Toronto said in a tweet on Thursday, “We are shocked and pained by the unfortunate killing of Karthik Vasudev, an Indian student in the Toronto shooting incident.” The Consulate General said, “We are in touch with the family and will provide all possible help to hand over the body to the next of kin at the earliest.”
