The minor, named rahul sahuwhich had fallen on Friday into a very narrow well of 24 meters deep while playing behind his house in Chhattisgarh,”was rescued safe and soundthanks to everyone’s prayers and the tireless efforts of the rescue team,” said the chief minister of that state, Bhupesh Baghel, through his official Twitter account.
“The ambulance doctor said that on primary examination, blood pressure, sugar and heart rate are normal and the lungs are also clear,” he added.
For his part, the head of the local government, Jeetendra Shukla, specified in a press conference that the child “is alive but weak“, for which he was “urgently transferred to a hospital” in the neighboring district.
To save his life, rescuers, with the help of military personnel and members of the disaster response agency, dug a tunnel parallel to the well with bulldozers and cranes. However, bad weather conditions, presence of snakes and scorpionsand the hardness of the rocks delayed the operation, as detailed by the authorities.
In addition, the challenge was even greater considering that the child was deaf and dumb, so could not communicate with lifeguards. During the working days, they managed to supply him with an oxygen tube and also some bananas for him to eat.
