Ajay Devgan and Kicha Sudeep clashed on Twitter over Hindi

Ajay Devgan has also been pulled up by two former Chief Ministers of Karnataka on this matter and said that Hindi is not the national language of India. Former Congress Chief Minister Siddaramaiah strongly criticized Ajay Devgan’s tweet and said that Hindi was never our national language. HD Kumaraswamy of Janata Dal (Secular) supported Kannada actor Sudip Kichha’s comment that Hindi is not the national language and said this while directly attacking the Bollywood actor. Kumaraswamy said in a tweet that Ajay Devgan is talking like the spokesperson of one nation, one tax, one language and one government of the BJP’s Hindi nationalism.

On the other hand, Siddaramaiah said on Wednesday evening that Hindi was never our national language and never will be. It is the duty of every Indian to respect the linguistic diversity of our country. This controversy started when Ajay Devgan said that “Hindi was, is and always will be our mother tongue and national language.” He was reacting to the statement of Kannada actor Sudip Kichha, who had said in a recent program that Hindi is not our national language.

Responding to a comment on the recently released blockbuster Kannada film “KGF: Chapter 2” which also performed well in North India, Sudeep had said that everyone says that a Kannada film which was made on a pan-India level, but Let me make a small correction that Hindi is no longer the national language.
Taking a jibe at the Hindi film industry, he said that Bollywood makes many pan-India films, which release in Telugu and Tamil, but they have to struggle for that kind of success. Today we are making such films, which are getting different and all reach. Responding to this, Ajay Devgan said that @KicchaSudeep my brother, if according to you Hindi is not our national language then why do you release your mother tongue movies by dubbing in Hindi? Former CM Kumaraswamy today said that “Hindi based political parties” have always tried to “destroy” regional languages. Taking a jibe at both the Congress and the BJP, he said that the Congress started “imposing Hindi” which is being continued by the BJP. The JD(S) leader further said that Ajay Devgn should realize that Kannada cinema is overtaking the Hindi film industry. Hindi cinema developed due to the encouragement of Kannada people. Devgan should not forget that his first film ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ ran for a year in Bangalore.
However, both the actors were later seen working towards pacifying the dispute. Sudeep tweeted that he made this comment in a different context. This comment was not meant to hurt or provoke anyone. After this Ajay Devgan also tweeted that Hi Kicha Sudeep. you are friend. Thank you for clearing up the misunderstanding. I have always considered the film industry as one. We respect all languages and expect everyone to respect our language too.
