‘I’m fine’: They catch Joe Biden falling after a bike ride

The US President Joe Biden said he is fine after briefly falling off his bike while stopping to meet a group of onlookers after a morning ride near his Delaware beach house.

“I’m fine,” Biden said after Saturday’s Rehoboth Beach drop, which was witnessed by reporters and the small crowd gathered at the end of his ride.

A White House official said the president was doing well, did not require medical attention, and looked forward to spending the rest of the day with his family.

Some seven hours later, Biden tried to convey that he was no worse off. When a reporter yelled a question about how he felt about him, the president jumped on both feet, smiled and raised his fists as he left St. Edmond Church after attending an evening mass in the seaside town.

The 79-year-old president, flanked by Secret Service agents providing security, was approaching the group when his foot got caught in a pedal cage and he landed on the ground.

Biden plans stay in delaware through Monday night over a long weekend that includes the June 16 public holiday.

Biden ‘rushes’ to present plan against inflation in the US

The White House and congressional Democrats are in advanced talks on legislation aimed at fighting inflation; control the deficit and reactivate parts of the stalled agenda economy of the President Joe Biden.

The scope of the potential deal is still being negotiated, but the package would likely include limiting the price of insulin, a key drug for diabetics, and federal investments in both clean energy and fossil fuels, according to people briefed on the talks.

It would also further reduce the budget deficit and raise taxes on the wealthy, corporations or both, the sources said.

A deal could come as soon as next week, two people added, though others were more cautious, noting that many details remain to be ironed out. Weather provisions are a particularly tricky area, and differences could scuttle a deal.
