Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Tapan Kumar Deka was on Friday appointed as the head of the Intelligence Bureau (IB). He will replace Arvind Kumar, whose extended term ends on June 30. According to an official order issued by the Personnel Ministry, Deka is currently handling the responsibility of the Operations Wing of the IB. He has been appointed as the head of the IB for two years. He is a 1988 batch IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre. In another order, the ministry said that the tenure of Samant Goel, who is heading the intelligence agency ‘Research and Analysis Wing’ (RAW), has been extended by one more year.
