Chandigarh, May 15

The Higher Education Department of Haryana is now going to be even more massive. The government has made preparations to merge the Technical Education Department with Higher Education. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has given orders for this. Incidentally, the administrative secretary of both the departments is also with the same IAS. Similarly, the Director General of both the departments has also been made of the same officer.

After the instructions of the Chief Minister, now the department has started preparations for the merger. In both the departments, a list of staff from class-one to class-IV will be prepared. However, there may be a dispute among the officers regarding seniority. It is believed that after the merger of the department to find a solution, separate wings can be formed in it. For example, if there will be a separate wing for dealing with universities in higher education, then there will be a separate branch for colleges.

Similarly, there can be a separate wing for polytechnics and a separate unit of engineering college can be made. Presently there are 26 Government Polytechnics in Haryana. 11 colleges are being run in society mode. There are 4 aided colleges and around 80 private polytechnics. All these will be part of higher education after the merger. However, Higher Education is already a very big department in itself. Apart from most of the universities of the state, government and private degree colleges come under it.

Generally the Administrative Secretaries of Higher Education and Technical Education Departments were also separate and Director Generals were also separate. The current BJP-JJP coalition government has given the responsibility of both the departments to the same officer. Hooda was the director of the department in the technical education department till the first term of the government. Part-.. The post of Director General was created and on this the appointment of IAS officer started.

Anand Mohan Sharan, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Department, says that Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has ordered to merge the Technical Education Department with Higher Education. Now the process will start for this. He says that the Secretary and Director General of both the departments are already one. After the merger, the approvals of both the departments will also be easy. Monitoring can also be done properly.

On the other hand, the Housing Board will also be merged with the Housing for All Department. Although the board has already been brought under the Housing for All Department by the government, but now it will be officially merged. The Director of the Housing for All Department is appointed as the ex-officio Chief Administrator of the Housing Board. Sources say that planning is underway to merge some other departments on the same lines inside.

…so the minister will also be the same

Presently the education minister of the state is Kanwar Pal Gurjar. He has higher education along with school education. There is technical education minister Anil Vij. After the merger, the minister of both the departments will also be the same. That is, one department of either of the two ministers will be less.

Society merger file still hanging

Last year, Cabinet Minister Anil Vij ordered the merger of 11 polytechnic colleges running in society mode into the Department of Technical Education. Its proposal has been made and has gone to the CMO (Chief Minister’s Office). This file has been hanging for several days. It is believed that before merging the Technical Education Department with Higher Education, the government will have to merge Society Polytechnic with the Department.

What is CM

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar informed that the technical education and higher education departments would be adjusted to provide quality and quality education to the youth. This will also reduce the unnecessary burden on the government and the youth will be able to get the best quality technical and higher level education combined.
