Gujarat thrashed Chandigarh by an innings and 87 runs in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match on the fourth and final day’s play here on Friday. In response to Chandigarh’s 304 in the first innings, Gujarat had declared the innings at 546 for 4. On the last day of the match, Chandigarh started the day at 46 for 2 in their second innings and their entire team was bowled out for 205 runs in 75.3 overs. Number 10 batsman Jagjit Singh Sandhu top-scored for Chandigarh with 46 runs. Left-arm spinner Hardik Patel took four wickets for Gujarat. In the other group match in Agartala, Tripura and Punjab ended in a draw. Tripura got three points on the basis of first innings lead.
