Former Punjab minister sent to judicial custody for 14 days

Mohali (Punjab), 10 February (Language) A Mohali court in Punjab on Friday sent former minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot to 14-day judicial custody in an alleged disproportionate assets case. The Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested Dharamsot on Monday on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. The former minister and Congress leader was produced before the court here on Friday after completion of his three-day Vigilance Bureau custody. The court sent him to judicial custody for 14 days. A case has been registered against Dharamsot under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Vigilance Bureau police station here. A bureau spokesperson had said on Monday, “During the period under investigation from March 1, 2016 to March 31, 2022, the income of the former minister and his family was Rs 2.37 crore, while the expenditure was Rs 8.76 crore, which is within the known sources of income.” 269 ​​percent (Rs 6.39 crore) more than Rs. The Congress leader was also arrested last year on corruption charges. He was later granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
