Elon Musk announces major changes to Twitter to limit data scraping

Twitter boss Elon Musk said in a post on the social media platform on Saturday that Twitter is limiting the number of tweets read by different accounts daily to reduce “extreme levels” of data scraping and system manipulation.

According to Reuters, Elon Musk said, users with verified accounts can currently read 6,000 posts in a day. On the other hand, users with unverified accounts will be limited to reading 600 posts in a day and users with new unverified accounts will be limited to reading 300 posts.

Elon Musk said in a separate post on Twitter that the temporary reading limit will soon be raised to 8,000 posts per day for users with verified accounts, 800 posts per day for users with unverified accounts and 400 posts per day for users with new unverified accounts. will be increased.

Twitter had earlier announced that users would need to have an account on the social media platform in order to view tweets. Elon Musk called the move a “temporary emergency measure” on Friday.

Elon Musk said that hundreds of organizations or more were scraping Twitter data “very aggressively”, affecting the user experience.

Elon Musk has previously expressed displeasure at artificial intelligence firms such as OpenAI, the owner of ChatGPT, for using Twitter’s data to train their big language models.
