Election Commission in Haryana is looking for a brand ambassador with a neutral image – dainiktribuneonline.com

Chandigarh, March 24 (Trinew)

Like every time, the Central and State Election Commission is trying to ensure maximum voting in the elections this time too. But the problem he is facing is that he is not able to find brand ambassadors to inspire people for this work. The situation is that till now, most of the famous faces that the Election Department has identified to become brand ambassadors are associated with political parties in some way or the other. While some are directly associated with some party or the other. In such a situation, the State Election Commission is having to struggle.

Let us tell you that the Central Election Commission has made film actor Rajkumar Rao its brand ambassador at the national level. It is a coincidence that Rajkumar Rao is a resident of Gurugram, Haryana. Following this step, the Central Election Commission has authorized the states to appoint prominent personalities as brand ambassadors at their respective levels. Haryana is a state of players and artists. There is no dearth of national and international level celebrities here. For this reason, the state election department had prepared an action plan to make one brand ambassador in every district. In this sequence, Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Aggarwal had also asked for names from all the District Deputy Commissioners.

Among the names sent by the District Deputy Commissioners, it was to be decided which celebrity could be made the brand ambassador at the state level and who could be the brand ambassador at the district level. But the Chief Electoral Officer is not liking the names sent by him. The reason being that the names sent are being directly or indirectly linked to some party or the other.

Earlier in the Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, about 70 percent voting took place in the state. But the Election Commission wants to increase the awareness among people towards voting and take it to 75 percent. The thinking of the Election Department behind this is that people should make maximum sacrifices in the festival of democracy, so that they can elect the public representatives and government of their choice. When the officials of the Chief Electoral Office discussed the names of the celebrities who came from the districts, it came to light that most of the faces were associated with political parties in some way or the other.

Due to this, the Election Department has neither been able to decide any brand ambassador at the state level nor has anyone been appointed as a brand ambassador at the district level. It is certain that the search process may continue.

Crisis arose over selection of names

According to Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Aggarwal, the Commission is facing difficulty in selecting celebrities as brand ambassadors. This problem is of many types. Actually, Haryana is a state of sportspersons, hence the Election Department had thought that only a sports personality would be made the brand ambassador, but when such names were identified, we faced a decision making problem. In this regard, the District Deputy Commissioners have once again been requested to do their homework and send the generally accepted names.
