Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Friday that there is a huge potential in the drone services sector and this sector will provide employment to about one lakh people during the next four-five years. Scindia said at an event of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), “We have started a production-linked plan for the drone sector, in which the drone manufacturing industry with a turnover of Rs 60 crores will be given 120 crores in the next three years. An incentive of Rs. Rs. 00,000 jobs are expected to be created.There is immense potential in this sector.
Significantly, the government had introduced the Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI) scheme last year. Through this, companies manufacturing drones and drone components will be given 20 percent incentive of ‘value addition’ for the next three years. The ministry has also selected 14 companies under the PLI scheme for drone manufacturing.
