Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-reigning monarch in the history of the United Kingdom with around seven decades sitting on the throne of the British Royal House. His death on September 8 marked a before and after for the English people.

The work is under the name of Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait, and is written by a former member of the English Parliament: Gyles Brandreth.

According to the extract from The Daily Mail, the book of Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait explains that the relationship between both members of royalty was very strong and that the queen was determined to spend the last moments of the duke of edinburgh by his side.

The book also emphasizes that the queen did not postpone any of her activities despite the death of her husband.

“Her renewed determination to keep up with royal duties after the loss of her husband was due in part to the fact that I didn’t want to give in to any form of self-pity. ‘My husband certainly would not have approved,’” the book states.
