The proceedings of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) house were adjourned on Tuesday without holding the election of the mayor and deputy mayor amid uproar by some councillors. Thus once again this election was postponed. After the oath of the ‘Alderman’ and the elected Councillors, the proceedings of the House were adjourned for 15 minutes. During this, BJP corporators raised slogans of ‘Modi, Modi’ in the House and raised slogans against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal.
The BJP corporator went towards the bench where the AAP corporator was sitting and raised slogans, following which the presiding officer adjourned the House till the next date.
Earlier, you councilors raised slogans of ‘Shame (Shame), Shame (Shame)’. At the same time, the nominated members raised slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ after taking oath. After this there was a heated argument between some councilors of both the parties. Presiding Officer Satya Sharma said, “The proceedings of the House cannot go on like this.”
Councilors took oath amid tight security
Members nominated by the Lieutenant Governor took oath before the elected representatives at a meeting of the 250-member House of the MCD amid heavy security arrangements. Various councilors and nominated members raised slogans like ‘Jai Shri Ram’, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ after taking oath. Some chanted ‘Jai Hind, Jai Bharat’, ‘Hindustan Zindabad’, ‘Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh’, ‘Radhe-Radhe’, ‘Kalka Maiya Ki Jai’, ‘Jai Bajrang Bali’, ‘Gau Slogans of ‘Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ were also raised.
