De Bruyne gives half the Premier League to Manchester City

Manchester City has the Premier League a stone’s throw away after thrashing Wolverhampton (1-5) in a match postponed from matchday 33 that allows them to continue in the lead with a three-point lead over Liverpool, with two games to go to conclude the English championship.

Pep Guardiola’s team crushed their rival with a hat-trick from Kevin de Bruyne in 17 minutes. A feat of the Belgian player who served to completely disable the Wolves despite the temporary draw (1-1) by Leander Dendoncker. The game died at halftime.

In the second half, City extended their lead with two more goals, another from De Bruyne and one from Sterling, who closed the account six minutes from time. The win is a resounding response to Liverpool’s long-suffering win last Wednesday. The ‘citizens’ have the Premier to four points will be this Sunday against West Ham.

For its part, Chelsea also took advantage of the week-to-week session to add three points in their visit to Leeds United. Thomas Tuchel’s men left third place practically closed thanks to goals from Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and Romelu Lukaku, who dribbled into his shadow to sign the third and final.

In addition, Watford -already relegated- drew goalless against Everton at the Vicarage Road Stadium; a point that keeps the ‘toffees’ two points above relegation; and Leicester easily beat Norwich (3-0) -with a brace from Jamie Vardy- to settle in the middle of the table.
