Cristina Kirchner will be present on January 27 at the inauguration of the elected president from Honduras, Xiomara Castro.

The event will take place at the national stadium in Tegucigalpa, the capital of that country, according to a press release from the vice president.

On December 20, the Honduran electoral authority officially proclaimed Castro as president-elect for the period 2022-26, having won the elections on November 28, 2021.

The candidate of the left-wing Libertad y Refundación (Libre) party obtained just over 1.7 million votes, equivalent to 51.12% of the valid votes.

On that occasion, the former Argentine president had congratulated Castro with a message on social networks. “‘Finally, my dear companion and friend Xiomara, sooner or later, the people and history always do justice.’ Beginning of the talk we had on Monday with Xiomara Castro de Zelaya, the first elected President of the Republic of Honduras,” Cristina wrote.

A few days ago, Honduran deputy Jari Dixon, a member of the President-elect’s Transition Commission, had advanced the confirmation of the vice president’s attendance.

The guest star is Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States. According to the Honduran authorities, the King of Spain Felipe VI will also arrive in the country; the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele; and the Vice President of Taiwan, William Lai.
