Thiruvananthapuram: Covid-19 has been confirmed for 1824 people in Kerala today. Thiruvananthapuram 374, Ernakulam 292, Kozhikode 256, Kannur 150, Thrissur 119, Malappuram 115, Kollam 103, Kottayam 96, Palakkad 73, Idukki 70, Pathanamthitta 63, Alappuzha 55, Wayanad 30 and Kasargod 28 were confirmed in the districts today.
38,929 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is 6 wards in 5 Local Government Areas above 10. There will be strict control here.
There are currently 1,21,509 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,17,637 are under home / institutional quarantine and 3,872 in hospitals. A total of 142 people were newly admitted to the hospital. Currently, out of 22,691 Covid cases, only 10 per cent are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals.
It has been confirmed today that 16 deaths in the last few days were due to Covid-19. In addition, 252 deaths have been reported which have been appealed by the Central Government as per the new guidelines of the Supreme Court. This brings the total death toll in the state to 46,586.
Today, 11 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state. 1678 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 1124 is not clear. Eleven health workers were infected.
3364 people who were diagnosed and treated were cured. Thiruvananthapuram 817, Kollam 112, Pathanamthitta 127, Alappuzha 157, Kottayam 347, Idukki 86, Ernakulam 324, Thrissur 261, Palakkad 90, Malappuram 107, Kozhikode 523, Wayanad 128, Kannur 228 and Kasaragod 57 were cured. With this, 22,691 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 51,65,164 have so far been freed from Covid.

97 97.58 per cent of the population to be vaccinated were given one dose of vaccine (2,60,63,883) and 76.67 per cent were given two dose of vaccine (2,04,77,049).

As per today’s report, 1598 out of 1824 new patients were eligible for vaccination. Of these, 111 took one dose and 931 took two doses. But 556 people have not been reported to have received the vaccine. Covid vaccines protect people from infection and serious illness and significantly reduce the risk of hospitalization and death.
From December 19 to 25, out of an average of 27,419 cases treated, only 2% needed oxygen beds and only 1.9% needed ICUs. During this period, there were approximately 5062 fewer reported new cases compared to the previous week. The growth rate of new cases has decreased by 21 per cent compared to the previous week. The number of patients currently being diagnosed and treated in hospitals, field hospitals, ICUs, ventilators and oxygen beds decreased by 21%, 10%, 39%, 6%, 7% and 1% this week, respectively, compared to the previous week. Hospitalization rates and serious cases show a declining trend.
