Thiruvananthapuram: Covid-19 has been confirmed for 1636 people in Kerala today. Thiruvananthapuram 344, Kozhikode 233, Ernakulam 190, Kottayam 130, Kannur 121, Pathanamthitta 108, Thrissur 107, Kollam 100, Alappuzha 79, Idukki 59, Malappuram 56, Kasaragod 42, Palakkad 39 and Wayanad 28 districts were diagnosed with the disease today.
During the last 24 hours, 42,149 samples were tested. The Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is 6 wards in 5 Local Government Areas above 10. There will be strict control here. There are currently 1,19,025 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,15,182 are under home / institutional quarantine and 3,843 in hospitals. A total of 132 people were newly admitted to the hospital.
Currently, out of 21,224 Covid cases, only 11 per cent are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals. It has been confirmed today that 23 deaths in the last few days were due to Covid-19. In addition, 213 deaths have been reported which have been appealed by the Central Government under the new guidelines of the Supreme Court. This brings the total death toll in the state to 46,822.
Today, 51 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state. 1484 people were infected through contact. The contact source of 86 people is not clear. Fifteen health workers were affected.
2864 people who were diagnosed and treated were cured. Thiruvananthapuram 511, Kollam 114, Pathanamthitta 100, Alappuzha 91, Kottayam 328, Idukki 102, Ernakulam 460, Thrissur 268, Palakkad 110, Malappuram 110, Kozhikode 354, Wayanad 80, Kannur 212 and Kasaragod 34 were cured. With this, 21,224 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 51,68,028 have so far been freed from Covid.

97.6 per cent of the population to be vaccinated were given one dose of vaccine (2,60,76,054) and 77 per cent were given two dose of vaccine (2,05,72,007).

As per today’s report, out of 1636 new patients, 1459 were eligible for vaccination. Of these, 86 were taken as a single dose and 836 as a two-dose vaccine. However, 537 people were not reported to have received the vaccine. Covid vaccines protect people from infection and serious illness and significantly reduce the risk of hospitalization and death.
From December 20 to 26, out of an average of 26,283 cases being treated, only 2% needed oxygen beds and only 1.9% needed ICUs. During this period, there were approximately 5451 fewer reported new cases compared to the previous week. The growth rate of new cases has decreased by 24 per cent compared to the previous week. The number of patients currently being diagnosed and treated in hospitals, field hospitals, ICUs, ventilators and oxygen beds decreased by 22%, 10%, 38%, 6%, 9% and 12% this week, respectively, compared to the previous week. Hospitalization rates and serious cases show a declining trend.
