Congress now has ‘one family-one ticket’ system, the organization has approved the ‘New Sankalp’ draft with major reforms

Udaipur, May 15 (Agency)

The Congress on Sunday, the last day of its ‘Chintan Shivir’, approved the ‘Nav Sankalp’ draft containing several major reforms, in which the system of ‘one family, one ticket’ is the most prominent. Also, a condition has been laid that any other member of the family will get the ticket only if he has worked for the organization for at least five years. According to sources, along with approving the provision of ensuring ‘one family, one ticket’, the party’s top policy-making body, the Congress Working Committee (CWC), has approved the appointment of SCs, STs, Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and minorities. It has also given approval to increase the representation in the organization to 50 percent. Party President Sonia Gandhi had formed coordination committees related to politics, social justice and empowerment, economy, organization, farmers and agriculture and youth and empowerment before the ‘Navsankalp Chintan Shivir’. In the different meetings of these committees, more than 400 leaders had a deep brainstorming in the last two days and gave suggestions on reforms in the organization of the party and many other subjects. Before the start of the Congress Working Committee meeting, Mallikarjun Kharge, Convenor of the Coordination Committee on Political Affairs, Salman Khurshid, Convener of the Coordination Committee on Social Justice, Mukul Wasnik, Convener of the Coordination Committee on Organization, submitted their recommendations to the Party President. Apart from these, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the convener of the Coordination Committee on Agriculture, P Chidambaram, the head of the Coordination Committee on the Economy and Amarinder Singh Raja Wading, the convener of the Youth Affairs Committee, also submitted their recommendations to Sonia Gandhi.
