City makes the signing of Haaland official and Dortmund quickly finds another nine

Colorín Colorado, the Haaland soap opera is over. The Manchester City confirmed on Tuesday the signing of the Norwegian, who will join Pep Guardiola’s team on July 1.

The sky blues They will pay the termination clause of the Norwegian player, which amounts to 60 million pounds (€70 million)to take over Haaland, who has spent the last three seasons at Borussia Dortmund, after standing out in Austrian football with Salzburg.

Haaland has scored 85 goals in 88 games in his three campaigns with the Germanswhich has earned him, at 21 years of age, the reputation of being one of the best strikers in the world and one of the great stars of the moment together with a Kylian Mbappe who has all the signs to sign for Real Madrid this summer. Erling’s salary will be at the level of the highest in the workforce and, according to English media, it will rise to 400,000 pounds (£500,000 per week).

Pep Guardiola dropped this Tuesday morning that Haaland would wear light blue when he was asked about it at a press conference, but he could not reveal any details of the agreement. “Everyone knows how the situation is. I shouldn’t talk about it and I don’t like to talk about the future or what’s going to happen next season. Dortmund and City have told me that I can’t talk about it, for a legal issue. I can’t talk about it until it’s done. We’ll talk about it”, explained the Catalan coach.

With this transfer, Guardiola adds the missing piece to his teamsince the English team has not been able to count on a nine of guarantees this season, after the departure of Sergio Agüero, and has always used the figure of the false ‘nine’ up front, a tactic that the Sampedor coach perfected at Barcelona with Leo Messi and that in this City he has manifested himself with Phil Foden, Kevin de Bruyne and Gabriel Jesús.

The Norwegian was one of the great jewels of the transfer market, after the one who was his agent, Mino Raiola, negotiated an affordable termination clause that would allow the footballer to leave Dortmund in due time. City has won clubs like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in negotiations.

Meanwhile, at Borussia Dortmund they think: a dead king, a put king. The German team has made official this Tuesday the arrival of Karim Adeyemiuntil now a Salzburg player, to replace Haaland’s departure to Manchester City, also made official throughout the afternoon.

Dortmund is thus done with the services of the 20-year-old German international, who signs until 2027. He is the third signing of Dortmund for the 2022-23 season after those already confirmed by Nicklas Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck.
