Chhattisgarh: Efforts to rescue the boy trapped in the borewell continue for the third day

Janjgir, June 12 (Agency) More than 45 hours after an 11-year-old boy fell into a deep borewell in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir Champa district, rescuers were still working hard to rescue him on Sunday. Officials gave this information. He said that the boy is conscious and a team of robot experts from Gujarat has reached the spot. Efforts are on to rescue the boy, who is trapped in a borewell about 60 feet deep. Rahul Sahu had fallen into an 80-feet deep borewell while playing behind his house in Pehrid village of Malkharoda development block at around 2 pm on Friday, officials said. He said the rescue team comprises over 500 personnel, including officials from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Army. They are using state-of-the-art machines and vehicles to rescue the child safely. According to the latest information, the parallel pit digging work, which has been going on since Friday evening, is in the final stage. A tunnel will then be built which will help the rescuers reach the borewell and retrieve the child. Officials said that a team of robotic experts from Gujarat has also reached the spot and with the help of the robot, efforts are on to get the child out safely. The government statement said that health officials are continuously monitoring Rahul’s condition through cameras. He is alert and moving. She was given a soft drink and a banana in the early hours of Sunday and juice was given this morning. A pipe has been installed to supply oxygen to the borewell. An official of the district administration said that we are hopeful that we will save the boy. Over 500 personnel, including NDRF, a four-member army team, over 150 policemen and 15 State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel, are involved in the rescue operation that began at 4 pm on Friday, officials said. According to an official statement, there is some water inside the borewell in which the boy is trapped and NDRF personnel are trying to get the water out with the help of a vessel tied with a rope. The boy is also helping in the water extraction exercise. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is in touch with the officials and is constantly taking information about the rescue operation. Baghel spoke to Rahul’s family members over phone and assured them that all possible steps would be taken to save him.
