Karnal, July 28 (HP)
After repeatedly sending service tax notices to the central departments by the municipal corporation, there is no change in the situation, according to the corporation officials, the central departments have to pay more than Rs 112 crore as service tax to the municipal corporation. For 13 years, the corporation officials have been sending notice after notice to the central departments, yet nothing is happening in the direction of paying the tax. Due to which the municipal commissioner called a meeting of the officers of the central departments, in which he was instructed to pay the service tax. For this, budget provision should be made by contacting the headquarters, because the corporation does not have any other source of income.
Services tax etc. are provided to the residents of the city, on which the Corporation has to spend a lot.
