Maharashtra Police, which is probing various extortion cases against former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh, has handed over all relevant documents to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). an officer gave this information on Wednesday. Earlier, the Supreme Court had last month handed over the probe in several cases against Singh to the CBI on allegations of misconduct and corruption. The court had directed that the investigation involving five FIRs and three preliminary investigations (PE) be handed over to the CBI along with all the records. All the documents in such cases have been handed over to the CBI on the orders of the Supreme Court, the official said. Several cases of extortion have been registered against Singh at various police stations in Mumbai and neighboring Thane, he said. The State Crime Investigation Department (CID) was probing the case registered at Marine Drive police station in South Mumbai and Kopri police station and Bazarpeth police station in Thane, he said. Significantly, Singh is facing several cases of extortion, corruption and malpractice and was removed from the post of Mumbai Police chief for allegedly not handling the Antilia bomb case.
