Bodies of 44 civilians found from rubble of a building destroyed in Russian attack in Izium: Ukraine

Kyiv, May 10 (AP)

Ukrainian authorities claim to have found the bodies of 44 civilians from the rubble of a building destroyed in March by Russian attacks in the Kharkiv region’s Izium city. The head of the Kharkiv regional administration, Oleh Sinehubov, made the announcement in a message on social media on Tuesday. Izium is a city in the Kharkiv region. Sinehubov said the five-storey building was completely destroyed by Russian military attacks in March and that people were present in the building at the time of the attack. “This is yet another horrific war crime committed by the Russian military and its supporters against civilians,” he said. Sinehubov, however, did not specify in which area the building was located. It is worth noting that Izium is a strategically important city in eastern Ukraine, which Russia is trying to capture.
