The politics of Bengal has heated up after eight people were burnt alive in the Birbhum violence. The fact-finding team of BJP termed the Birbhum violence last week as a result of TMC and Mafia Raj. Referring to the terms used by Bengal’s ruling party leaders for accepting bribes, the BJP report said the killings in Bogatui village were “a result of state-sponsored extortion, hooliganism and taxation.

BJP’s fact-finding report claimed, “Local residents have left their homes fearing danger to their lives and property,” following the killing of local Trinamool Congress leader Bhadu Sheikh in Bogatui village near Rampurhat. Houses were set on fire, killing eight people, and one of the injured later succumbed to their injuries.
Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee hit out at the saffron party, saying the report mentions the name of TMC’s Birbhum district president Anubrata Mondal, which clearly shows the BJP’s vengeful attitude. Banerjee told reporters in Darjeeling, “The BJP report on the Bogatui violence will weaken the investigation and will lead to interference in the investigation, I condemn this attitude of the saffron party,” she said, adding that no political party would be involved in the investigation. There should be no interference. Banerjee said, “He has mentioned the name of the district president of my party. This is a partisan and vindictive attitude.
