Big double murder: Delegates say things would not have gone awry if the leadership had intervened properly

Madikkai (Kasargod): The CPM claimed that the Kanhangad area committee did not take proper action before and after the Periya double murder case. Criticism at the District Conference. The issue was raised by the delegates from Uduma area during a discussion held in Madikkai yesterday. The murder took place under Kanhangad area. The area leadership failed to properly address the problems that already existed there. That led to further trouble and murder. Delegates also accused the leadership of delaying intervention in preventing violence against party members and sympathizers after the assassination.

A member from Cheruvathur area said that the inauguration of the Kaiyur Martyrs’ Memorial Complex, which started construction in Kaiyur years ago, was a shame. There was also criticism of the state police force. The delegates alleged that most of the actions of the police were affecting the party and the administration and that the inability to control the activities of the police had put the party in a vicious circle.
