Bangladesh out for 234, West Indies off to a good start

Gros Islet (Saint Lucia), June 25 (agency) Bangladesh made some improvement in their performance, scoring 234 runs in their first innings on the first day of the second Test against West Indies. Bangladesh had scored only 103 runs in their first innings in the first Test in Antigua last week and their team lost the match with almost two days to go. West Indies again batted well and scored 67 runs for no loss till the end of the first day’s play. At that time opener John Campbell was playing on 32 and captain Craig Brathwaite on 30. Earlier, West Indies won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first and did not allow any of their batsmen to play long innings. For Bangladesh, Liton Das scored 53 and opener Tamim Iqbal scored 46 runs. Najmul Hasan Shanto (26) and Anamul Haque (23) also failed to capitalize on a good start. Captain Shakib Al Hasan could only manage eight runs. In the lower order, Shoriful Islam contributed 26 and Ibadat Hossain contributed 21 not out. For West Indies, Jaden Seals and Alzarri Joseph took three wickets each while Anderson Phillip and Kyle Myers took two wickets each. Kemar Roach, who took seven wickets in the first Test, did not get a single wicket in 15 overs.
