Before a full house at the Santurce Fine Arts Center, in the performance at 1:00 pm on Sunday, the children’s musical group Attention attention filled the Festival Hall with joy, positive energy and good music. with the show “Attention Attention Yuppie Yei!” Hundreds of children, parents and grandparents danced and sang the memorable songs of this Puerto Rican group.
After a brief introduction, in which he appeared on stage Victor Riveramain figure of the group and president of the Atención, Atención concept, together with the three star characters, Johnny the Lizard, Tito the Little Angel Y Mr. Toadsounded the first song of the night “I put a hand”followed by “Attention attention”. After that, the beloved character of Clara appeared, played by Stephanie Mercado, who sang the song. “1, 2, 3, Clara”.
Throughout the show, the line of thought was to show children that when faced with negative situations, it is normal to feel sad or upset, but that everything can be overcome. For example, before singing the theme “Yupee Yei”Victor explained what these two words meant. “Yupi yei is the feeling one has when feeling happy. It is when we infect everyone with our joy, when we sing and dance with everyone. That feeling became a song”Rivera explained. This song will be part of a new album by Atención, Atención that will be released in 2023.
The show continued with the appearance of the animated character Tapita, who interacted with Víctor as part of the introduction of the theme “Bam, Bim, Boom”, and that urged the children to hug, clap and jump, while a catchy tune played. After this, the group performed the theme “Bowl”followed by “Ukulele”.
Between each song, Victor and Clara interacted with the audience as they followed a story entertaining enough to hold the attention of the hundreds of children in the room. Among the tools they used for this included the use of colorful and cheerful images that appeared on a giant screen that was located at the back of the stage.
A lot of energy
One of the most energetic moments of the afternoon occurred when the chords of one of the group’s most popular songs sounded: “There was a toad”. During the theme, the public accompanied Víctor at all times by singing the choruses of the song as well as following and dancing to his choreography.
Immediately afterwards, the character of Clara interpreted “Lanar Moon”, with an impressive image of a moon on the screen. This gave way to the song, “little fish”, where the entire audience turned on the light on their cell phones, which gave a magical atmosphere to the moment. The first act concluded with another classic of the band, “lizard”which was sung and danced by a good part of the room.
Throughout the show, Víctor and Clara had the support of a band of six excellent musicians who played in tune and with great sound quality for an hour and a half. The orchestra was composed by Nelson Camacho, on bass; Luis Seguinot, on drums; Dennis Pagán, on guitar; Meliana González, on the piano; David Marrero, on percussion; and Janice Maysonet, on saxophone.
Second act
The second part of the show resumed the story they had been telling, as well as the energy and joy that all the participants had shown. After a brief interaction between the musicians and the characters, a funny segment appeared on the giant screen in which Rivera appeared as if he were a cartoon, before interpreting the theme. “La Le li Lo Lu”.
Later there was a block of three songs where the musicians played toy instruments, including “Alligator”the classic “Cheki brunette” Y “New car”, popularized by Gaby, Fofo and Miliki, where children and artists on stage danced and sang, while having a great time seeing the audience respond positively to them.
It should be noted that since its successful concert held in 2019 at the Puerto Rico Coliseum, and due to the pause caused by the pandemic, Attention Attention had not had the opportunity to perform in a massive concert.
triumphal closing
with the theme “Toad where is it”, they started a type of game, in which the Toad character moved from side to side inside the Festival Hall. Every time he appeared, the children shouted with joy and tried to tell Victor where the toad was.
The entertaining show was already coming to an end before performing the songs “Flea”, “Hands” Y “Friends friends”with which they said goodbye with an affectionate message of thanks from the entire group. Seconds later, they went back on stage to sing the song “Yupi yei” again, with which they managed to close the show with high spirits.
At 5:00 pm on Sunday, these musicians and artists repeated the show, whose producers spared no sound, technical or visual elements. The happy and satisfied face of the parents and children when they left their seats once the ‘show’ ended, was a sign of how much fun they had and that “Atención Atención, Yupi Yei!” it fulfilled its primary purpose: to entertain the public and carry a positive message.
