The White House said that America recognizes Arunachal Pradesh as an integral part of India.

The US has strongly reacted to China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs changing the names of 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh. The US has come out in support of India, saying it recognizes Arunachal Pradesh as an integral part of India and strongly opposes any unilateral attempt to rename local areas under territorial claims. In fact, China claims this area of Arunachal Pradesh as part of Southern Tibet.

On the other hand, amidst the renaming of some places in Arunachal Pradesh by China, India said on Tuesday that this state is an integral and unbreakable part of India and keeping fabricated names will not change this reality. Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said, “We have seen such reports. This is not the first time that China has made such an attempt. We reject it outright.”
Significantly, recently China has released the third list of names for Arunachal Pradesh in ‘Chinese, Tibetan and Pinyin’ characters. This is the third list of standardized geographical names issued by China for Arunachal Pradesh. The first list of standardized names of six places in Arunachal was released in 2017 and the second list of 15 places in 2021.
China has renamed some places in Arunachal Pradesh at a time when the standoff between the two countries that started in May 2020 in eastern Ladakh has not yet ended.
