Stavanger (Norway), June 6 (agency)Legendary Indian player Viswanathan Anand on Monday reached the top of the points table after defeating world number one Magnus Carlsen in the fifth round of the classical category at the Norway Chess Tournament. After defeating Norwegian superstar Carlsen in the pre-classical Blitz event, Anand once again defeated him in a thrilling Armageddon (Sudden Death Battle) match. The Armageddon bet was played after the regular bet was drawn after 40 moves. In the Armageddon game, 52-year-old Anand showed his old magic by defeating Carlsen in 50 moves. The win takes the Indian Grandmaster to 10 points and is leading the way, with 4 rounds of play to go. Some of the best players in the world are playing in this prestigious tournament. Anand started the classical category by winning 3 consecutive games against Maxime Vachier Lagrave of France, Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria and Hao Wang of China. Despite the loss against Anand, Carlsen is still on the second spot with 9.5 points.
