Alberto Fernández will send an official delegation to the resumption of Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua

Argentina obtained this Friday the presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) thanks to the support of Nicaragua, whose government in principle was opposed to it. A series of negotiations and concessions to the regime changed the scene. In Buenos Aires is the Nicaraguan Foreign Minister, Denis Moncada, who this time will say yes to Argentina.

This Friday, while Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero headed the plenary of CELAC ministers at the San Martín Palace, met from the ambassador in Managua, Daniel Capitanich, one of the most sensitive concessions of the Government to the regime of the marriage of Daniel Ortega and his wife Rosario Murillo, whom the dictator appointed co-president: in statements to the Nicaraguan newspaper La Prensa, Capitanich said that President Fernández will send a representation to the “inauguration” of the Ortega and Murillo duo, which is nothing more than endorse a re-election questioned by most western democracies.

The veteran Sandinista leader obtained a new mandate on November 7 with 75% of the vote. He has been in power for 15 years, but with a trend of human rights violations, the brutal repression of 2018, and the imprisonment of all the presidential candidates who overshadowed him.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said that in the electoral period between May and October, she registered the arbitrary detention of at least 39 politicians, human rights defenders, businessmen, journalists, and peasant and student leaders, including seven possible candidates for the elections.

The act of his re-assumption will be on January 10 and Capitanich told the Nicaraguan newspaper La Prensa the following: “We are awaiting confirmation of the person who will attend on behalf of Argentina. Someone from the government level will attend, but I could not confirm who the person would be. “He also confirmed that there are already Argentine representatives in the capital of that country.

“At the moment there are already other representatives of Argentina. Actually Argentina has a government coalition, let’s say, apart from the Justicialista Party, so There are also representatives of some political spaces that make up the Frente de Todos they are already in Managua, but we are also waiting for government representations, “he said.

The former leader of Montoneros, Mario Eduardo Firmenich, was the official observer of the electoral process that once again consecrated Ortega and was a link with several other militants of the Frente de Todos. For that matter, Daniel Capitanich, an ambassador who is not a career but a politician and is the brother of the governor of Chaco, Jorge Capitanich, is an admirer of Sandinismo.

The relationship of the Fernández Government with Nicaragua is hard to understand. Condemns human rights violations at the United Nations but refuses to do so in the Organization of American States (OAS).

However, after repeatedly refraining from condemning what happened in Nicaragua, as well as what happened in Venezuela, in November he voted for an OAS resolution along with 25 countries that declared the elections illegitimate November 7.

But then he returned to the abstentions scheme. Furthermore, he had first withdrawn Capitanich from Managua in the face of the political raid and then reinstated him in his post.

Clarion He asked the government who will travel to Managua to represent Argentina, but there was no answer.
