After the photo with Donald Trump, Mauricio Macri returned to the United States and met with Jeb Bushformer Governor of the State of Florida and son of George H. and brother of George W., both former US Presidents.
The meeting was held this Wednesday afternoon at Bush’s offices. “They talked about the political and economic situation in the hemisphere, and about the growing populism throughout the Americas. Also about the next elections in the United States,” explained sources close to the former president.
Also, they assured, cshared their experiences as teachers. Bush is a professor at a University of Texas and Macri is teaching at FIU in Florida.
The relationship between both started more than 15 years agoin a soccer game that Boca played against River, in Miami.
In April, Macri had shared a lunch with Trump at the Mar-a-Lago residence that the Republican has in Palm Beach, in the state of Florida.
“Today I shared a lunch with Donald Trump, where we exchanged opinions on the global context, the link between Argentina and the United States and everything that our countries can continue to build together,” Macri had announced on his Twitter account.
Upon returning to the country, Macri met with the Peruvian writer Vargas Llosa. He received it last weekend in his fifth of Los Abrojos, in the Buenos Aires match of Malvinas Argentinas. Both shared a lunch with leaders of Together for Change.
After that meeting, he returned to the United States, where he went to teach classes.
He asked to declare “essential strategic service” to education
The former president defended this Wednesday the initiative of a deputy for education to be declared an “essential strategic service” and did so by criticizing the unions.
On Twitter, Macri praised the proposal of the current deputy and former minister of the educational portfolio in his Government Alejandro Finocchiaro and pointed out that it would imply that the classes they can “never be interrupted, even when a guild decides to stop”.
“Declaring education as an essential strategic service -like hospitals or water distribution- means that it can never be interrupted, even when a union decides to stop. I support this project to ensure that children do not miss a single day of school” Macri wrote when accompanying a tweet from Finocchiaro.
The project presented by Finocchiaro this Wednesday “seeks to guarantee the rights of children and adolescents that must be achieved during the school year,” according to the Buenos Aires legislator himself, and “points to education as a human right, primary and substantial access to social, economic and cultural rights.
