Police have registered an FIR against 7 people, including her husband, for tricking a young woman of Puwayan police station area of Shahjahanpur district into marrying an impotent youth despite giving dowry of Rs 10 lakh. The family members of Shahjahanpur married the girl with great pomp, but when she reached her in-laws’ house, it was found that her husband was impotent. The police have registered an FIR against seven people including the husband. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sanjeev Bajpai said on Sunday that the girl, living in a village of police station Puwayan, was married by her family members to a resident of Shahjahanpur and gave Rs 10 lakh in cash and dowry in the marriage. But when the bride departed and reached her in-laws’ house, it was found that her husband was impotent. When the bride told this to her in-laws, her sister-in-law etc. beat her up. Her in-laws also threatened to kill her. Vajpayee quoted the FIR lodged that the girl was cheated. Police have registered a case against seven people including husband and started investigation.
