The BCCI fetched Rs 4669.99 crore from the sale of five teams of the first Women’s Premier League while Adani Sportsline bought the costliest team for Rs 1289 crore. The Ahmedabad team was bought by Adani while IPL team owners Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals bought 912. Successful bids were made for Rs.99 crore, Rs.901 crore and Rs.810 crore. Capri Global Holdings bought the Lucknow team for Rs 757 crore. Earlier, the BCCI had sold the media rights of the league to Viacom18 for Rs 951 crore, which would fetch Rs 7 crore 90 thousand per match for five years. BCCI Secretary Jai Shah tweeted, ‘Today is a historic day in cricket. The first women’s premier league broke the records of the first men’s IPL 2008. A total of 4669.99 was bid.
