Malappuram: A 16-year-old girl who went missing from West Bengal has been found from Vazhakkad, Malappuram. The girl was found with a young man from Bengal. The girl is one month pregnant. Nazaruddin, 34, a native of Bengal, was taken into police custody in connection with the incident.
The parents had lodged a complaint with the Bengal Police stating that the girl was missing. Following the information received through the National Commission for Child Rights, Childline and Vazhakkad police conducted an investigation. The girl was found by Childline workers and police in a rented quarters in Vazhakatte. There was another three-year-old boy in this quarters. It is learned that this is the child of Nazaruddin’s first marriage.
Neighbors said Nazaruddin had recently moved to Bengal with his three-year-old son after his wife left him. He later returned with a girl. The two are said to be married. But police said they were investigating the matter.
Nazaruddin has been remanded in custody for abducting a minor girl, raping her and making her pregnant. The 16-year-old and 3-year-old were taken to a shelter after being produced before the Child Welfare Committee.
