13-year-old Palestinian teen shoots and injures father and son in East Jerusalem

Many countries have strongly criticized the incident of firing outside the religious site in Jerusalem.

Jerusalem :

A 13-year-old Palestinian boy shot and wounded a father and son in East Jerusalem on Saturday. The incident came hours after a gunman killed seven people outside a Jewish synagogue. It is believed to be one of the deadliest such attacks in recent years. Both these incidents are being seen as an increase in the conflict between Israel and Palestine and a global call for peace.

Police said the new attack happened on Saturday morning outside the old, walled city in Silwan. A 47-year-old father and his 23-year-old son were shot in the upper body and have been taken to the hospital. Earlier, the police had announced the arrest of 42 people in connection with the attack on Friday’s religious place. The mass shooting was carried out by a 21-year-old Palestinian from East Jerusalem who walked up to the synagogue in Neve Yaakov neighborhood and opened fire. Crowds chanted as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the Jewish shrine late Friday.Palestinians held spontaneous rallies to celebrate the killings in Gaza and throughout the West Bank, including Ramallah, where large crowds took to the streets And waved the Palestinian flag.

Israel’s police chief Kobi Shabtai called the incident “one of the worst attacks (Israel) in recent years”. Several Arab countries with ties to Israel, including Egypt, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, condemned Friday night’s firing, but one of Israel’s most prominent enemies, the Lebanese group Hezbollah, praised the attack. Described as a ‘heroic act’.
